Accreditation as a Professional Legal Nurse Consultant Program

PLNC course meets ANCC standards.

Accreditation as a Professional Legal Nurse Consultant

Jurex Nurse is approved by the American Nurses Credentialing Center

The PLNC certification program at Jurex Nurse is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association through joint sponsorship with Contemporary Forums. ANCC is the oldest and largest certification body for advanced practice registered nurses in the United States. In 1998, ANCC created the Institute for Research, Education, and Consultation to provide a range of services, including Accreditation for programs offering nursing continuing education credits. ANCC appraisers are experienced nursing leaders and educators with a passion for the nursing profession. We are proud to have met the high standards ANCC requires for nursing education. The ANCC stamp of approval means that our certified PLNCs have passed through a comprehensive program of education that fully prepares them for a career as a legal nurse consultant or nurse expert witness.

How our accreditation fortifies your certification

As you are probably aware, there are many programs that offer legal nurse certification. However, not every program is accredited. Accreditation means that an organization that sets and maintains standards for a particular field of education has examined the program and found that it meets their criteria. Accreditation can be regional or national, and is available for educational programs at all levels, including:

  • Bachelor’s degrees
  • Associate’s degrees
  • Graduate studies and fellowships
  • Continuing professional education programs
  • Certification programs

For example, students graduating from an accredited university can be confident in the merit of their diploma. That sheepskin stands as evidence they have passed through a rigorous course of study under a knowledgeable faculty, on par with student experiences at other accredited universities. But if their school were not accredited, they might just as well have been given a participation trophy.

How the accreditation process works

Different accrediting bodies have different processes, but all require a scrupulous examination of:

  • Program goals and objectives — Our two major goals are to prepare you to serve as a PLNC and to help you manage your practice as a business. These goals are supported by pointed objectives that give you the knowledge and skill required to meet both goals.
  • Educational materials — Our course text and video lectures contain all the information you need, presented in an engaging way to stimulate learning and retention.
  • Instructor credentials — Elizabeth Rudolph started her career as an RN, then became an attorney and a legal nurse consultant, so she is qualified to instruct on every aspect of a career as a PLNC.
  • Record of outcomes — Our program has helped countless RNs master the skills necessary to thrive in their new careers as legal nurse consultants.

Accreditation must be renewed periodically, at which times the accrediting body re-examines all facets of the program. Programs that have slipped can have their accreditation revoked or be placed on probation.

Values of the accreditation process

The accreditation process can be demanding, but there are distinct benefits:

  • Validation —Receiving an enthusiastic thumbs up from a respected organization like the American Nurses Credentialing Center gives us the satisfaction of knowing that our legal nurse training program meets rigorous professional standards.
  • Improvement — Preparing for accreditation requires self-reflection which inevitably spurs thoughts on how to improve the program for our participants.
  • Guidance — Accrediting bodies provide helpful feedback that leads to even greater improvements in the program. ANCC appraisers are carefully chosen for their professional knowledge, level of accomplishment, and sincere desire to improve nursing education. Their input is invaluable to programs such as Jurex Nurse, which strives for the highest professional standards.

Of course, the greatest beneficiary of the accreditation process is you, the student. Because of this process, you have the opportunity to partake in a great program and earn a certification that law firms across the country can trust. Take the first step now, by clicking below.
